It is very rare for artists to have great success on screen and off screen. Younger generations of artists may not have much to their name besides their recent accolades, but artists in previous generations have so much for us to discover. Take for instance Lord of the Rings actor Christopher Lee. Born on the 27th of May, 1922, Lee achieved multiple folds of greatness in his lifetime. Here are some facts about this wicked wizard.

He held the record of having the most screen credits (268), he shares the title of tallest leading actor with Vince Vaughan with a height of 6’5’’, and he also holds the title of most films with a swordfight (lightsaber included) with 17 films in total. Lee’s military career isn’t a secret in the acting world. His experience has even had him enlightening modern day directors like Peter Jackson. During the shoot of Lord of the Rings, Jackson gave Lee instructions on how to act as his character was stabbed. To this, Lee replied “Have you any idea what kind of noise happens when somebody is stabbed in the back? Because I do.” Lee worked for the Special Air Services, as well as in Churchill’s Special Operations Executive which hunted Nazis and liberated camps across Europe.
As an artist, Lee had several ways of expressing himself. Besides acting, he was also a musician. He released several metal albums including Charlemagne: By the Word and the Cross, an album he dedicated to his distant relative, the actual King Charlemagne. Lee can also sing. According to sources, he could rival some of the best Tenors of his time. He could have easily been an opera singer but chose not to.
